Good Friday

It is the darkest day history has ever known. The pure, spotless lamb, the beloved Son of the Father was about to lay down His life for those who had scorned Him. Evil rejoiced, as all of our failures, our vileness, our sins were hurled upon the perfect one.

"The despair is darker than the sky. The two who have been one are now two. Jesus, who had been with God for eternity, is now alone. The Christ, who was an expression of God, is abandoned."
~Max Lucado, No Wonder They Call Him the Savior

"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

The cry is loud, and full of anguish. Pain-filled eyes look heavenward in agony as He draws His last few ragged breaths.

"But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed."

Don't miss this, friend. It was for you, and me, that He endured such suffering. It was for us that gave up His perfect union with the Father. To Him, you and I were worth all the pain. This love continues to amaze me.

So with determination, the Son of God breathed His last. He gave one final sigh, and let go. Evil shrieked with excitement, and shuddered with glee.

And Heaven waited...
